A major update has emerged regarding the "Griha Aadhar Yojana," one of the Goa government's most popular public welfare schemes. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has made an important announcement to empower the state's housewives financially and provide relief from rising inflation. Assistance under this scheme will now be deposited directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts by the 10th of each month.

This move brings significant relief to thousands of women who often faced difficulties due to delayed payments. The government aims to ensure timely financial assistance so that families' basic needs, children's education, and healthcare expenses are not hampered.

What is Griha Aadhar Scheme?

The Griha Aadhar Yojana was launched by the Goa government to help middle- and lower-income housewives. The primary objective of this scheme is to provide economic independence to homemakers. Currently, eligible women receive financial assistance of ₹1,500 per month under this scheme. This amount is transferred directly to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Who will get the benefit of this scheme?

The government has set some essential eligibility criteria to avail the benefits of this scheme:
Residence: The applicant woman must be a permanent resident of Goa for the last 15 years.
Income limit: The total annual income of the family (husband and wife) should not exceed Rs 3 lakh.
Marital status: Married women, as well as widows and divorced women, can avail the benefits of the scheme.
Other conditions: If the applicant or her husband is already availing the benefits of the Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS), they will not be eligible for this scheme. However, exemptions are provided in some special cases.

Documents required for application

If you want to apply for this scheme, you must have the following documents:

• Aadhar Card (must be linked to bank account).
• Residence Certificate of 15 years.
• Income Certificate.
• Marriage certificate (death certificate of husband in case of widowhood).
• Photocopy of bank passbook.
• Ration card and birth certificate.
• Government's strictness for timely payment

The Chief Minister clarified that technical improvements have been made to simplify and make the payment process transparent. Now, the 10th of every month will serve as a deadline. Furthermore, the government is conducting periodic document verification camps to ensure eligible women continue to receive their payments without interruption.

The Griha Aadhar scheme is not only empowering women with self-reliance but also empowering economically weaker sections of society.
