Gmail Tips: Is your Gmail storage full? Here’s how to free up space without spending any money..

If you frequently receive alerts that your Gmail account storage is full, there is no need to worry. Often, old emails, large attachments, and unnecessary files take up a significant amount of space in your Google account. This can affect your ability to receive new emails or use other Google services. However, by following a few simple steps, you can free up space in your account without needing to purchase additional storage.

Google typically provides its users with 15GB of free storage, which is shared across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos. Consequently, simply deleting emails may not be enough. Here are five easy ways to free up storage space.

Delete emails with large attachments.
Emails containing large files can consume a significant amount of storage. To find these, type `has: attachment larger:10M` into the Gmail search bar; this will help you locate emails with attachments larger than 10MB. You can then select and delete the ones you no longer need. Just be sure to check for any important documents or work-related attachments before deleting them.

Get rid of old promotional emails.
Over time, shopping offers, advertisements, and promotional messages can accumulate in your Gmail. Go to the 'Promotions' tab and select old or unnecessary emails to delete them; this will also help keep your inbox organized. Be careful not to delete important items like bills, tickets, or purchase receipts.

Clear your Trash and Spam folders.
When you delete an email, it typically moves to the 'Trash' folder. Therefore, deleting an email does not necessarily free up storage space immediately. Go to your Gmail 'Trash' and 'Spam' folders and permanently remove the unwanted messages. Keep in mind that once an email is permanently deleted, it cannot be recovered.

Remove large files from Google Drive.
If your storage remains full even after cleaning up your Gmail, check for large files stored in Google Drive. To do this, open your Google Drive storage list. You can remove unnecessary videos, PDFs, and other files from here. Don't forget to empty the Trash in Google Drive after deleting these items.

Also, check your Google Photos storage.
Often, photos and videos account for the majority of the space used in a Google account. You can use the Google One Storage Manager to see how much space is being consumed by Gmail, Drive, and Photos. Deleting unnecessary photos and videos is another way to free up storage.

Keep these points in mind before freeing up storage:

Ensure that you save any important emails or files before clearing your Gmail storage. It can sometimes take 48 to 72 hours for the storage usage to update after files have been deleted; therefore, if you don't see the changes immediately, please wait for a while. By following these steps, you can better manage the storage space in your Google account.
