Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar, continues to create waves at the box office, with its massive success influencing the release strategies of other films. Since hitting theatres, the film has generated immense buzz, with audiences and critics alike praising Ranveer Singh’s performance. Within just five days, the film has reportedly crossed ₹700 crore worldwide, cementing its position as one of the biggest releases of the year.
The overwhelming response to Dhurandhar 2 has had a noticeable impact on other major releases. Several films have already adjusted their schedules to avoid clashing with the blockbuster. Notably, the much-anticipated Hollywood film Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, has reportedly been postponed in India for the second time.
Although Project Hail Mary continues to perform strongly on the global stage, its Indian release has been delayed by nearly a week due to the dominant run of Dhurandhar 2 in theatres. The film was initially slated for a worldwide release on March 20 but is now expected to arrive in Indian cinemas on March 26. This move highlights a growing trend in global film distribution, where studios strategically reschedule releases to avoid competition with major regional blockbusters.
Despite Dhurandhar 2 ranking among the top-performing films globally, Project Hail Mary continues to hold the top position worldwide. However, the Indian market has clearly been influenced by the strong box office presence of the Ranveer Singh starrer.
The ripple effect extends beyond Hollywood, as other Indian films have also shifted their release dates. Actor Yash’s upcoming film Toxic is another example, having reportedly changed its schedule to avoid a direct clash.
Filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, associated with Project Hail Mary, have acknowledged the rising global influence of Indian cinema. They noted that Indian films are gaining increasing recognition internationally, citing examples like RRR achieving cultural success in global markets.
The developments underline the growing power of Indian box office dynamics, where a major domestic release like Dhurandhar 2 can significantly impact both national and international film schedules.
