Chief Minister Civil Services Incentive Scheme: Financial assistance of Rs 23 crore to 4473 women in 5 years, 311 daughters became officers

Mukhyamantri Civil Seva Protsahan Yojana: The Chief Minister Civil Seva Protsahan Yojana was started in the year 2021. During the last five years, 4,473 women candidates who passed the preliminary examination of UPSC and BPSC have benefited from it.

Daughters are becoming officers through Bihar Chief Minister Civil Services Incentive Scheme.

Bihar Social Welfare Department Minister Dr. Shweta Gupta said that today, Bihar's daughters are proving their mettle in every field. Their increasing participation in education, administration, and other important sectors is a testament to the positive social change taking place in the state. She made this statement while meeting with female candidates selected in the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination at her office in the Secretariat on Thursday.

The minister praised the Chief Minister's Civil Services Incentive Scheme.

Describing the Chief Minister's Civil Services Incentive Scheme as an important initiative towards women's empowerment, Minister Shweta Gupta said that the greatest example of this scheme are the daughters who, after receiving financial assistance, have succeeded in prestigious examinations like the BPSC. She said that this scheme, run by the Women and Child Development Corporation, aims to provide financial assistance to talented female candidates preparing for the civil services.


Under the Chief Minister Civil Service Incentive Scheme, the benefit of financial assistance is being provided to women from general category, economically weaker section (EWS) and backward class.

Which woman gets financial assistance?

Under the scheme, female candidates who pass the UPSC and BPSC preliminary examinations are provided financial assistance for preparing for the main examination. UPSC candidates receive an incentive of ₹1 lakh and BPSC candidates receive ₹50,000.

The Minister informed that in the 70th BPSC examination, 1,914 female candidates benefiting from the scheme were provided assistance of ₹50,000 each, totaling ₹9.57 crore. Of these, 148 candidates achieved final selection.

4,473 women benefited in five years

Dr. Shweta Gupta stated that this scheme was launched in 2021. Over the past five years, financial assistance of approximately ₹23 crore has been provided to 4,473 female candidates who passed the UPSC and BPSC preliminary examinations. Of the 311 female candidates who benefited from this scheme, they have been finally selected for various positions. Of these, 13 women have succeeded in the UPSC and 298 in the BPSC.

New initiative beyond Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao

The Minister stated that the government is no longer limited to "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" (save the girl child, educate the girl child), but is also making continuous efforts to enable girls to enter higher administrative services such as the IAS, IPS, and PCS. He congratulated the successful candidates and urged them to be an inspiration to other young women.

During the program, Administrative Officer Manjusha Chandra guided and encouraged the selected female candidates. Nodal Officer Marghan Sinha and other department officials were also present.
