The box office is witnessing an interesting clash between two very different films. On one side is ‘Hanuman Ansh’, a devotional drama reportedly made on a budget of around ₹2 crore. On the other is the much bigger ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’, backed by a reported budget of nearly ₹250 crore.

Despite the enormous difference in their production budgets, the gap between their daily collections isn't as massive as one might expect.

‘Hanuman Ansh’ continues its strong run

Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, ‘Hanuman Ansh’ is a devotional drama based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba.

The film initially had a slow start at the box office, with its daily earnings remaining in the lakhs during its first few weeks. However, its fortunes changed dramatically after the 17th day, when the film began witnessing a significant rise in collections.

According to Sacnilk, the film earned ₹10 crore on Day 32 (September 7). Its performance improved further on Day 33, with the film reportedly collecting ₹11 crore on September 8.

That's a ₹1 crore increase in a single day, an impressive performance for a film that was reportedly made on a very modest budget.

‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ earns ₹15.85 crore on Day 5

Meanwhile, ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ is also attracting audiences.

The film reportedly collected ₹15.85 crore on September 8, its fifth day at the box office.

That puts the difference between the two films' single-day collections at around ₹4.85 crore, with ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ leading on the day.

The film features popular names including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Ravi Kishan, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Jitendra Kumar, among others.

With the popularity of the original ‘Mirzapur’ series already giving the film a strong fan base, expectations were high for its theatrical release.

The budget difference is enormous

The most interesting part of this box-office comparison is the difference in the reported budgets.

‘Hanuman Ansh’ was reportedly made for around ₹2 crore, while reports suggest that ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ had a production budget of approximately ₹250 crore.

Despite the massive difference in investment, ‘Hanuman Ansh’ has managed to maintain a surprisingly strong run and continues to generate double-digit daily collections according to the reported figures.

After 33 days, ‘Hanuman Ansh’ has reportedly collected ₹143.13 crore at the domestic box office.

The film's journey is particularly notable because it didn't start with blockbuster numbers. Its momentum picked up much later, allowing it to build an impressive cumulative total.

‘Mirzapur: The Movie’, meanwhile, has reportedly collected ₹125.60 crore in five days.

Can ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ overtake ‘Hanuman Ansh’?

Although ‘Hanuman Ansh’ currently has the higher overall collection, ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ is adding money at a much faster pace because it is still in the early stages of its theatrical run.

With ₹125.60 crore already collected in just five days, the film could potentially surpass ‘Hanuman Ansh's’ lifetime total in the coming days if its momentum continues.

For now, however, the biggest surprise is undoubtedly ‘Hanuman Ansh’. A film made on a reported ₹2 crore budget has managed to turn a slow start into an extraordinary box-office run, proving once again that a film's budget doesn't always determine its theatrical performance.
