Bigg Boss 20: Amrapali Dubey Loses Her Cool Over Mahi Vij’s ‘Bhabhi’ Remark—Says, “Should I Say You Play a Mother on TV?”

The drama inside the Bigg Boss 20 house is intensifying with every passing day. With cameras recording the contestants around the clock, even a casual joke can quickly turn into a heated argument.

This time, a seemingly harmless comment involving the word “bhabhi” has triggered tension between Bhojpuri star Amrapali Dubey and television actress Mahi Vij. What began as a light-hearted exchange soon turned into a discussion about cultural sensitivities, respect and the way certain words are used in the Bhojpuri entertainment industry.

What happened between Amrapali and Mahi?

The incident reportedly took place in the changing area while Amrapali was changing into a saree. Singer Qazi Touqeer was nearby, and Amrapali used gestures to politely ask him to move away so she could change comfortably.

Mahi Vij intervened and convinced Qazi to leave the area.

However, after he walked away, Mahi made a remark that didn't sit well with Amrapali. Laughing, Mahi reportedly said that Qazi wasn't leaving because he wanted to see “bhabhi” wearing a saree.

What Mahi apparently intended as a joke quickly became a sensitive issue.

Amrapali explains why ‘bhabhi’ matters

Amrapali immediately objected to the comment and explained that the word “bhabhi” carries a different cultural significance in the Bhojpuri context.

She told Mahi that in Indian culture, the term is traditionally associated with respect and that the word has a particularly important place in Bhojpuri culture and entertainment.

Mahi then clarified that she understood the cultural meaning of the word and insisted that her comment was only intended as a joke directed at Qazi. She also said she had no intention of insulting the Bhojpuri industry or its culture.

Both actresses try to clear the air

As the conversation became more serious, both Mahi and Amrapali appeared keen to ensure that the incident wasn't misunderstood by viewers.

Mahi addressed the cameras and clarified that she hadn't used the word in a disrespectful Bhojpuri context and was simply joking.

Amrapali also attempted to calm the situation, telling viewers that there was no intention to hurt anyone's sentiments. She even apologised to her fans to ensure that the incident didn't send the wrong message.

The discussion eventually moved towards the way the word “bhabhi” is frequently used in Bhojpuri songs and popular culture.

But despite the public clarification, it seems the matter wasn't completely over for Amrapali.

Amrapali vents her anger to Luv Gill

Later, while sitting with Luv Gill in the garden area, Amrapali opened up about what had happened.

Clearly upset, she questioned Mahi's choice of words and said:

“Mahi is calling me ‘bhabhi, bhabhi’… should I say, you play a mother on TV?”

Luv appeared surprised by the statement and asked whether Mahi had actually played mothers in television shows.

Amrapali responded bluntly that she didn't know, adding that she doesn't watch Mahi's serials.

Bigg Boss 20 drama is only getting started

The incident highlights just how quickly small conversations can become major issues inside the Bigg Boss house.

With contestants from different industries and backgrounds living together under constant camera surveillance, cultural differences and personal boundaries are likely to become recurring talking points.

Whether Amrapali and Mahi manage to completely move past the disagreement—or whether this becomes the beginning of a bigger rivalry—will be interesting to watch in the upcoming episodes.
