Apple Records Strong Growth in India as iPhone Demand Surges

Apple has reported record revenue in the September 2026 quarter, with strong iPhone sales, growing demand for Mac computers and higher services revenue contributing to its performance. The company's revenue reached $114.5 billion during the quarter, marking a 12% increase compared with the same period last year.

Apple ended its fiscal year with annual revenue of approximately $479 billion. The iPhone continued to be its biggest revenue contributor, generating $57.6 billion in the September quarter, up 17% year-on-year.

The company also reported record revenue in several developed and emerging markets, including India. Growing demand for new iPhone models and an increase in customers upgrading their older devices played an important role in this performance.

iPhone 18 Pro Series Sees Strong Demand

Apple's Chief Financial Officer, Kevan Parekh, said the number of iPhones currently in use worldwide has reached an all-time high. He also highlighted the growing trend of customers replacing older iPhones with newer models in markets such as India, the US, China and Japan.

According to a recent Counterpoint Research report, initial sales of the iPhone 18 Pro series in India were approximately 20% higher than those of the iPhone 17 Pro series during the corresponding period.

Demand for the iPhone 17 series has also remained strong. However, increasing costs of memory and other essential components have put pressure on product costs, prompting Apple to adjust prices for some of its products.

Apple Trails Samsung in India's Smartphone Market Share

Despite its revenue growth, Apple continues to have a smaller share of India's smartphone market by unit sales compared with Samsung.

During the September quarter, Apple's market share stood at around 8%, while Samsung held approximately 17%. Apple's share also declined by one percentage point compared with the same quarter last year.

These figures indicate that Apple's strong financial performance and growing premium smartphone demand have not yet translated into a larger overall share of the Indian smartphone market.

Mac and Services Businesses Also Record Growth

Apple's growth in India has not been limited to iPhone sales. Its Mac computer business has also recorded double-digit growth in markets such as India and Southeast Asia.

The company's services business has delivered record revenue in several emerging markets, including India. This segment includes services such as subscriptions and other digital offerings that contribute to Apple's overall revenue.

Apple Pay Expands Its Presence in India

Apple has also announced the launch of Apple Pay in India in collaboration with Axis Bank. The service is expected to provide users with another option for making digital payments.

According to Apple CEO John Turner, the launch will bring a secure and convenient payment experience to a large market like India. With this expansion, Apple Pay is now available in more than 90 markets worldwide.

The company's latest results highlight the growing importance of India in its global business, with demand for iPhones, Mac computers and digital services contributing to its performance.
