Google has released the QPR1 Beta 1 update under its new operating system, Android 16, which is now available to select Pixel device users. This update is considered to be a stable build, which is suitable for everyday use. It includes many elements of the recently introduced Material 3 Expressive design language, which will make the user interface look more attractive and modern than before.

Which devices got the update?
The Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 update is currently available for Pixel 6, 6a, 6 Pro, 7, 7a, 7 Pro, Fold, Tablet, 8, 8a, 8 Pro, 9, 9a, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold. Google has also said that the stable version of Android 16 will start rolling out globally from June 2025.
Big change in design: Material 3 Expressive
With Material 3 Expressive design, Android 16 will get a new design in the notification shade and quick settings, "At a Glance" on the lock screen will now be below the clock, a new variety in home screen grid sizes, and a new layout of the launcher and app list. Apart from this, tiles are now resizable i.e. users can decide for themselves how big each tile should be. The size of the tile can be changed. The brightness slider is now new and more user-friendly.
