There is tremendous enthusiasm among the people regarding the Amarnath Yatra. In the last four days, more than 70 thousand devotees performed the Amarnath Yatra, while another batch of 8,605 pilgrims left for the Kashmir Valley on Monday. According to officials, since the Amarnath Yatra started on July 3, about 70 thousand people have visited Baba Barfani so far. Out of these, 21,512 pilgrims visited on Sunday. Apart from this, another batch of 8,605 pilgrims left for the Kashmir Valley from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu in two security convoys on Monday.

Officials said that the first convoy is going to Baltal base camp in North Kashmir with 3,486 devotees, while the second convoy is going to Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camp in South Kashmir with 5,119 devotees. Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) officials said that apart from the pilgrims visiting Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu, many devotees are reaching Baltal and Nunwan (Pahalgam) directly for on-the-spot registration to join the yatra.
180 additional companies of CAPF have been brought in to augment the existing strength of the Army, BSF, CRPF, SSB, and local police. The entire route has been secured by security forces. Locals have extended full cooperation in this year's Amarnath Yatra as they have been doing in the past as well. To send a message that Kashmiris are hurt by the Pahalgam terror attack, locals were the first to welcome the pilgrims of the first batch. As soon as the pilgrims crossed the Nowgam tunnel and entered the Kashmir Valley from Qazigund, the locals gave them a warm welcome.
On Sunday, locals served cold drinks and pure drinking water to the pilgrims returning from the Baltal base camp in Ganderbal district of north Kashmir. The pilgrims accepted the hospitality of the locals without hesitation and thanked the Kashmiris for their love. The Amarnath Yatra began on July 3 and will end on August 9 after 38 days. The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is one of the holiest religious pilgrimages for devotees, as legend has it that Lord Shiva revealed the secrets of eternal life and immortality to Mata Parvati inside this cave.
