Earlier, even a minor correction in Aadhaar meant standing in long queues for hours at enrollment centers. But that inconvenience is now becoming a thing of the past. Keeping pace with digital India, UIDAI has taken another big step to make Aadhaar services simpler and faster for the public.
With the launch of the new Aadhaar mobile application for Android and iPhone users, many important services are now available at the fingertips. The app was rolled out around November 9, 2025, and has already seen millions of downloads. After the latest update on December 2, users can now update their registered mobile number directly from home without visiting any Aadhaar center.
No More Long Queues at Aadhaar Centres
Earlier, updating a mobile number required biometric verification and a physical visit to the enrollment office. Now, thanks to this digital upgrade, the process has become much easier and time-saving. Currently, the app supports only mobile number updates, but soon users are expected to get facilities for updating their name, address, and email ID as well.
What Is ‘My Contact Card’ Feature?
The newest update of the app has also introduced a smart feature called “My Contact Card.” Normally, when someone scans a regular Aadhaar QR code, it reveals personal information such as name, date of birth, full address, and photo. In many situations, sharing all this information is not necessary.
“My Contact Card” generates a special QR code that displays only limited details — name, mobile number, and email ID. This allows users to share their contact information safely without exposing sensitive personal data.
Where Will This New Digital Feature Be Useful?
Aadhaar is now required for many essential services such as school admissions, opening bank accounts, and booking railway tickets. With the increasing demand for digital identity verification, “My Contact Card” will be extremely useful in situations where only basic contact details are needed.
For example, whether you are sharing your details with a shopkeeper, service provider, or during a casual professional interaction, you can now simply share your QR code instead of writing your number or spelling out your email. It’s quick, secure, and completely hassle-free.
