The question of when the Eighth Pay Commission will be implemented for central employees is being asked. Meanwhile, the committee formed for the Pay Commission has now come into action. Pay Commission meetings have begun. The first meeting was held last week in Dehradun. Now, a meeting with employee organizations will be held in Delhi. Meanwhile, central employees have stated their demands. Among these, the Federation of National Postal Organizations (FNPO) has made a significant demand.
What is the demand?
The Pay Commission demands that the basic salary of postmen be set at ₹1.12 lakh, with a fitment factor of 3.83. Rural postal workers should also be included in the Eighth Pay Commission. They also demand a 6% annual salary increase. Furthermore, demands apply to other departments, such as postal assistants, sorting assistants, mail guards, the civil branch, the administrative office, and the accounts department.
What is the basic salary?
The Federation of National Postal Organizations has demanded a salary of ₹69,000 for newly recruited employees. This salary is proposed for multi-tasking staff. Under the 7th Pay Commission, the basic salary for newly recruited employees is ₹18,000.
For postmen or mail guards, the FNPO has proposed an increase from ₹25,500 to ₹112,000. This salary increase is for Level 5. It also suggests merging Levels 2 and 3, and Levels 8, 9, and 10.

The FNPO has proposed a fitment factor of 3.83 for postal employees. Currently, the fitment factor is 2.57. Subsequently, it has requested a fitment factor of 3.83 in the new Pay Commission.
