Government employees are awaiting the Eighth Pay Commission. Everyone is curious about when they will receive a salary increase. Questions are being raised about how much salary they will receive and how much arrears they will receive. Meanwhile, according to a report in The Economic Times, if 20 months' arrears are paid to employees, they could receive up to ₹1.5 million.
Employees with a basic salary of ₹50,000 could receive arrears ranging from ₹3.6 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh. However, no official information has been released regarding this figure. The government has not provided any information regarding this matter.
Arrears for different pay levels
If there is a difference in arrears for Level 1 and Level 8 employees, Level 1 employees, with a basic salary of ₹18,000, could receive arrears of ₹3.6 lakh to ₹5.65 lakh. Level 3 employees could receive arrears of ₹4.34 lakh to ₹6.81 lakh. Level 5 employees could receive arrears of ₹5.84 lakh to ₹9.16 lakh. Level 8 employees are likely to receive arrears of ₹9.52 lakh to ₹14.94 lakh.
If 20 months' arrears are received, this could be this much. Furthermore, if a different fitment factor is set for each level, salary increases could vary. The Seventh Pay Commission's fitment factor was 2.57. Discussions are underway for a 2.0 to 2.57 fitment factor in the Eighth Pay Commission. Employee unions are demanding a 3.0 to 3.25 fitment factor.
