The hospital's PRO stated that he passed away early this morning after a period of continuous deterioration in his health. Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary Devajit Saikia expressed grief over the passing of Rinku Singh's father and offered condolences to the family. In this time of grief, the question of when Rinku Singh will rejoin the team remains a major one. Saikia, while providing an update, stated that he will not travel to Kolkata with the team for the upcoming match against the West Indies.

Saikia said, "On behalf of the BCCI, I extend my deepest condolences to Rinku Singh and his entire family during this difficult time. He left Chennai for Delhi at 5 a.m. to visit the Greater Noida hospital where his father is undergoing treatment." Saikia also confirmed that Rinku will not travel with the team to Kolkata for the next Super 8 match against the West Indies on Sunday. He said that any updates regarding Rinku will be provided soon. There has been no official update on whether Rinku will join the team for the remainder of the T20 World Cup.
