Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather bulletin warning of intense rainfall across several parts of the country as the southwest monsoon gains momentum. While Karnataka faces a Red Alert for extremely heavy rainfall, multiple states are expected to witness thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, and widespread showers over the next few days.
Monsoon Advances Further Across India
The southwest monsoon has become increasingly active, bringing significant changes to weather conditions across large parts of the country.
According to IMD, conditions remain favorable for the monsoon to advance further into the central Arabian Sea, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and additional areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal during the next three to four days.
As rainfall activity intensifies, several regions are expected to experience heavy to very heavy precipitation.
Karnataka Faces Red Alert Amid Extremely Heavy Rainfall
Karnataka remains the most affected state as monsoon activity strengthens over the western coast.
The IMD has issued a Red Alert for the coastal districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada, where extremely heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations. Strong surface winds and rough weather conditions are also likely along coastal areas.

Odisha may also experience humid weather conditions and uncomfortable nighttime temperatures.

A cyclonic circulation and favorable moisture conditions are expected to trigger widespread thunderstorm activity across eastern, central, and southern India.
