It is likely to move slowly northward and concentrate into a depression in the northern part of the Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours. Very heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over the northeastern states and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till May 30. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over the west coast (Kerala, Karnataka, coastal Maharashtra, and Goa) during the next four days.

Yellow alert for rain in Mumbai

Heavy rain continues in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad in Maharashtra. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in Mumbai and its suburbs. Red alert for heat in the border areas of Rajasthan for the next three days

The Meteorological Center Shimla has predicted rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms in some areas of six hill districts Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, and Kullu on Thursday. On Wednesday, Nahan, Bhuntar, Mandi, Chamba, Kalpa, Kangra, Dhaula Kuan, and Bajaura received rain. Fresh snowfall also occurred on the peaks of the Great Himalayan National Park. Warning of heavy rain in Coimbatore and Nilgiri districts

The long-term average rainfall in India is 868.6 mm. The IMD said that during the monsoon season (June to September) 2025, the country as a whole is likely to receive above-normal rainfall.\
