Cold Wave Alert Across North India
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave warning for several states in North India and the Northeast. Dense to very dense fog is expected in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana until 1 January 2026, especially during early mornings and nights, potentially disrupting traffic and transport.
Foggy Conditions in Multiple States
According to IMD forecasts:

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand: Fog may persist until 30 December.

Bihar: Fog expected until 27 December.

Assam, Meghalaya, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh: Dense fog likely in mornings and evenings until 30 December.
Reduced visibility may affect road and air travel in these regions.
Cold Day Conditions Expected
The cold is expected to intensify in the coming days. On 27 December, parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh may experience cold day to severe cold day conditions. On 26 December, some sub-Himalayan areas in West Bengal recorded a cold day. In Bihar, cold will persist from 27 to 30 December, while in Uttarakhand, it will remain from 27 to 28 December. Residents are advised to take precautions against the cold.
Delhi Weather Update
Delhi-NCR is experiencing a continuous drop in minimum temperatures, with severe cold conditions expected to intensify. Moderate fog may persist in the capital until 28 December.
Rajasthan and Jharkhand to Face Cold Wave
IMD warns that north Rajasthan could experience cold wave conditions on 27 December. In Jharkhand, different areas may see a cold wave impact on 27 and 28 December, with temperatures falling well below normal.
Cold Intensifies in Hilly Areas
From 29 December to 1 January, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad may witness light to moderate rain and snowfall, increasing the chill in hilly regions. Similarly, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may experience rain or snowfall on 30–31 December, further intensifying cold conditions in these areas.
