If your skin looks dull, tired, or lacks its natural glow, you don't always need an expensive skincare routine. A simple homemade face pack made with just three easily available ingredients can help keep your skin feeling soft, fresh, and moisturized.
Celebrity nutritionist Shweta Shah has shared a simple face mask that combines liquorice powder, milk, and honey. Here's how you can prepare and use it.
You Only Need 3 Ingredients
-
1 teaspoon liquorice powder
-
1 tablespoon milk
-
1 teaspoon honey
Liquorice powder is easily available at grocery and Ayurvedic stores. You can also use dried liquorice, grind it into a fine powder, and store it in an airtight container.
How to Prepare and Apply the Face Pack
Take a clean bowl and add liquorice powder, milk, and honey. Mix all three ingredients thoroughly until you get a smooth paste.
Apply the mixture evenly to your face and neck. Leave it on for around 10 minutes and then gently wash it off with water.
You can use this face pack up to twice a week as part of your skincare routine.
Why Is Liquorice Used for Skin?
Liquorice has been traditionally used in various Ayurvedic preparations. Certain compounds found in liquorice may influence melanin production, which is why liquorice-based ingredients are often used in products designed to improve the appearance of uneven skin tone.
However, it is important to remember that a homemade face pack cannot permanently change your natural skin colour. Its potential benefit is mainly in making the skin look fresher and more even-toned.
Milk and Honey Can Help Keep Skin Soft
Milk contains lactic acid, which can provide mild exfoliation, while its other components can help support the skin's overall appearance.
Honey is known for its moisturizing properties and can help leave the skin feeling soft and hydrated. Together with liquorice, these ingredients make a simple face pack for a quick at-home skincare routine.
Don't Forget a Patch Test
Before applying any homemade face pack to your entire face, perform a patch test on a small area of skin. Stop using it if you experience burning, itching, redness, or irritation.
Also, avoid applying the mixture to broken or irritated skin. If you have sensitive skin or an existing skin condition, it is best to consult a dermatologist before trying new DIY skincare remedies.
