Vinayak Chaturthi Puja Vidhi

Bath and Resolution: Wake up early, take a bath, wear clean clothes, and make a resolution to fast.

Ganesha Installation: Place a red or yellow cloth on a clean platform and install a Ganesha idol or picture.

Offerings: Apply roli, sandalwood, and kumkum to Lord Ganesha. Offer red flowers (especially hibiscus), rice grains, and durva grass, which is very dear to him.

Mantra Chanting and Prasad: Offer modaks or laddus, along with ghee and jaggery. Chant “Om Gan Ganpataye Namah” at least 108 times.

Katha and Aarti: Recite the story of Vinayaka Chaturthi and perform an aarti.

Breaking the Fast: Fast throughout the day. In the evening, offer prayers to the moon (via its reflection in water), and then break the fast.

Distribution of Prasad: Share prasad among family and friends.
Religious Significance
Lord Ganesha, known as Vighnaharta, is believed to remove obstacles and bring happiness, wealth, and prosperity to devotees who observe the fast with devotion. Worshipping him on this day grants wisdom, patience, and fulfillment of wishes. Additionally, performing charity on Vinayak Chaturthi—donating food or money according to your capacity—is considered highly auspicious.
