Aaj Ka Panchang (Today's Panchang), 25 May 2026: Today is Monday, the Dashami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) of the month of Jyeshtha. Along with the Monday fast, Ganga Dussehra will also be celebrated, and the first day of Nautapa begins today. According to the Panchang, after Jyeshtha Shukla Dashami, Ekadashi Tithi, Uttaraphalguni Nakshatra, Taitil Karan, Shukla Paksha, and the Moon will be in Leo, followed by Virgo, and the Sun will be in Taurus. Ganga Dussehra is celebrated on the Dashami Tithi of the Jyeshtha Shukla Paksha. Bathing in the Ganga, donating, and worshipping are considered especially significant on this day. Significantly, Ravi Yoga prevails throughout the day on Monday, and Abhijit Muhurta is also available. According to the Brahma Purana, Goddess Ganga descended to earth from heaven on Jyeshtha Shukla Dashami during the Hasta Nakshatra. Therefore, bathing in the Ganges on this day is believed to destroy ten types of sins, which is why it is called Ganga Dussehra. This year, Ganga Dussehra falls in the month of Purushottam, making it even more special. It is believed that bathing in the Ganges River, bathing with Ganga water, or worshipping Goddess Ganga at home on this day brings special benefits.

Along with Monday fast and Ganga Dussehra, today is also the first day of Nautapa. According to astrology and the almanac, this period begins with the Sun's entry into the Rohini constellation, and intense heat is expected for the next nine days. This year, the first day of Nautapa coincides with the Jyeshtha Monday fast of Adhik Maas, further enhancing its religious significance. Devotees are praying for happiness, peace, and health by performing special prayers to Lord Shiva. According to religious texts, on Jyeshtha Monday, one should wake up during the Brahma Muhurta, bathe, and take a vow to observe the fast. Afterward, offering water, milk, Belpatra (Bael leaves), sandalwood, Datura (Dhatura), and Akshat (rice flour) to the Shivalinga in a nearby Shiva temple pleases Lord Shiva. While worshipping, continue chanting the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya." Afterward, offer food, light a ghee lamp, and recite the Shiva Chalisa. Chant Shiva mantras with a Rudraksha rosary. Shiva is worshipped in the morning as well as during the Pradosh period. According to religious beliefs, observing a fast on Jyeshtha Monday and worshipping Lord Shiva removes obstacles in life. It is believed that with the blessings of Lord Shiva, mental stress is reduced and happiness and prosperity prevails in the family.
