A major security incident has been reported from Pakistan’s Balochistan province after a suicide attack targeted a Pakistan Coast Guard camp in the Jiwani area of Gwadar district. The banned militant group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that more than 30 Pakistani security personnel were killed. However, these claims have not been independently verified, and Pakistani authorities have not issued an official confirmation of the casualties.
What happened in the attack?
According to reports cited by Balochistan Post, the incident took place on Friday evening around 6:32 pm. The attack is said to have been carried out by the BLA’s elite Majeed Brigade.
The group claims that:
- A suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden truck into the Coast Guard camp
- The blast caused a massive explosion and heavy damage
- The camp was heavily fortified but still breached
The explosion reportedly caused panic in the surrounding area.
BLA’s claims about casualties
In its statement, the BLA claimed that:
- The camp was “reduced to rubble” after the blast
- A follow-up ground assault was carried out by its Fateh Squad
- More than 30 security personnel were killed in total
- Several others were injured or trapped under debris
The group also claimed that the death toll could rise due to the severity of injuries.
However, these figures remain unverified.
