Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has shared an important update about his health following his recent injury. Taking to Instagram from his hospital bed, the star batsman revealed that he has not yet fully recovered. In his heartfelt message, Iyer thanked fans and well-wishers for their constant support and prayers, adding that he is gradually getting better each day.
Iyer sustained the injury during the Sydney ODI match between India and Australia. The incident occurred in the 34th over of Australia’s innings when he dived to take a catch of Alex Carey. While he successfully completed the catch, the effort caused him to injure himself severely, forcing him to leave the field and later be hospitalized.
Following the injury, Shreyas Iyer was admitted to a Sydney hospital, where he reportedly spent two to three days in the ICU due to internal bleeding. Fortunately, he has now been moved out of the ICU and is showing signs of improvement. However, he confirmed through his Instagram story that he is “still recovering,” indicating that a full recovery will take more time.
As of now, there is no official announcement regarding Iyer’s return to the field. Media reports suggest that he may need up to two months of rest before resuming cricketing activities. This could mean he might miss the remainder of India’s fixtures for the year. For now, Iyer remains under medical supervision in Sydney and will be discharged only after doctors confirm his complete recovery.
