Yuvraj Singh Backs Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi for ODI Selection: Says Ignoring Their Talent Would Be Unfair

Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi have impressed cricket fans with their explosive performances in T20 cricket. Now, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh wants to see these young batting talents get opportunities in the 50-over format as well.

Yuvraj has advocated for the inclusion of Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ishan Kishan in India's ODI setup. According to him, these players deserve regular opportunities in the format, considering the talent and performances they have demonstrated.

Yuvraj Singh Wants Abhishek, Ishan and Vaibhav in ODIs

Speaking to PTI, Yuvraj said he would love to see Abhishek Sharma play ODI cricket. He also expressed the view that leaving players like Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Suryavanshi out of the 50-over format would mean not making proper use of their abilities.

The former all-rounder hopes that these players will get opportunities in the ODI team soon. His comments have sparked fresh discussion about whether India's young T20 stars should also be given a chance to prove themselves in one-day cricket.

Abhishek Sharma's Explosive 113-Run Knock

Abhishek Sharma recently delivered a remarkable performance in the third T20 International against New Zealand. He smashed 113 runs off just 38 balls, reaching his half-century in only 14 deliveries.

His extraordinary innings once again highlighted his ability to dominate opposition bowlers from the beginning.

After the knock, Yuvraj Singh issued a challenge to his former protégé on social media, asking him to score a half-century in just 12 balls.

Abhishek responded humorously, saying that he did not know what kind of cricket Yuvraj had played during his time, but achieving such a feat was certainly not easy.

Young Players Face Competition from Experienced Stars

Yuvraj also acknowledged that competition from experienced cricketers makes it difficult for younger players to secure places in the Indian team.

However, he believes the performances of emerging batters deserve attention and could soon earn them opportunities at the international level.

With Abhishek, Vaibhav and Ishan displaying impressive batting abilities, the debate over India's future ODI combination is likely to continue. Whether the selectors act on Yuvraj's suggestion remains to be seen.
