Rohit Sharma advised to stay focused; BCCI to hold key meeting with Gautam Gambhir soon

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to feature in the ODI series against South Africa, but major discussions about their long-term future are expected soon. Reports suggest that after the ODI series ends, the BCCI will hold an important meeting to decide the roadmap for both veterans.

Key meeting after SA series
According to sources, BCCI officials will meet with chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir. The meeting will focus on whether Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should continue as part of India’s plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Reports indicate that this discussion may take place next week in Ahmedabad, following the third ODI between India and South Africa in Visakhapatnam.

Clear communication needed
A BCCI official quoted in the media said, “It’s important that players of Rohit and Virat’s stature are clearly informed about what the management expects from them and the role they are likely to play. They shouldn’t be left in a situation of uncertainty.”

Rohit advised to avoid distractions
Meanwhile, reports claim that the BCCI has advised Rohit Sharma to stay focused on his fitness and on-field performance and not to pay attention to outside speculation or rumours. The board wants the Indian captain to remain mentally fresh and fully prepared for upcoming assignments.
