Indian batter Sai Sudharsan has suffered another injury scare during Tamil Nadu’s Ranji Trophy match against Rajasthan in Jaipur. The left-handed batter had recently returned to action after recovering from a toe injury. However, he was seen limping on the second day of the match, raising concerns among fans about his fitness.
How Did Sai Sudharsan Get Injured?
The incident occurred during the second day of the Rajasthan-Tamil Nadu match while Tamil Nadu were fielding. Sudharsan appeared to be in discomfort while attempting to stop a shot played by Rajasthan batter Karan Lamba.
The team physiotherapist was called onto the field to assess the situation. Sudharsan was subsequently helped off the ground by members of the team’s support staff after he was seen limping.
According to a report by The Indian Express, citing sources, Sudharsan was struck on the knee by the ball. The impact reportedly caused discomfort, prompting him to leave the field for treatment.
Is Sai Sudharsan’s Injury Serious?
Initial reports suggest that the injury is not serious. Sudharsan reportedly used ice packs to manage the discomfort and did not return to the field during Rajasthan’s first innings.
However, the batter demonstrated his willingness to continue when he came out to open Tamil Nadu’s innings alongside N. Jagadeesan.
Although the initial reports are reassuring, an official medical assessment would be needed to establish the full extent of the injury. His recovery and subsequent availability will be important to monitor, particularly given his recent return from another injury.
Sudharsan Had Recently Recovered From a Toe Injury
The latest incident comes shortly after Sudharsan recovered from a toe injury that had kept him out of action. He had returned to competitive cricket during India A’s match against Australia A before joining Tamil Nadu for the Ranji Trophy fixture.
His inclusion in Tamil Nadu’s playing XI reportedly came at the last minute. Sudharsan had travelled from Puducherry to Jaipur and joined the team late on Saturday night, just hours before the match began.
What Happens Next for Sai Sudharsan?
For now, the focus will be on Sudharsan’s recovery and whether the knee injury affects his availability for upcoming matches. His decision to bat after leaving the field offers some reassurance, but it does not by itself confirm that he has fully recovered.
Tamil Nadu and his medical team will likely assess his condition before making decisions about his participation in the remainder of the match and future fixtures. An official update would provide greater clarity on the severity of the injury.
