Rajasthan Weather Split in Two: Rain Relief in Some Areas, Heatwave Conditions Persist Elsewhere

Rajasthan is currently witnessing two completely different weather patterns at the same time. While several districts are enjoying relief from soaring temperatures due to pre-monsoon showers and thunderstorms, many parts of western Rajasthan continue to battle intense heat and heatwave conditions.

According to the latest weather updates, the state remains divided between rain-bearing systems and extreme summer temperatures. The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for thunderstorms and rainfall in multiple districts, while several others remain under heatwave warnings.

Rain and Thunderstorm Alert Issued for Several Districts

Weather officials have forecast thunderstorm activity, gusty winds, and light to moderate rainfall in parts of eastern and southeastern Rajasthan. These pre-monsoon developments are expected to provide temporary relief from the scorching summer heat.

Residents in the affected districts have been advised to remain cautious during periods of strong winds and lightning activity. Sudden weather changes, dust storms, and localized rainfall are likely in some regions over the next few days.

The arrival of pre-monsoon activity has already brought a noticeable drop in temperatures in select areas, improving weather conditions for many residents.

Heatwave Continues Across Western Rajasthan

Despite rainfall in some regions, western Rajasthan remains firmly under the grip of severe heat.

Several districts recorded extremely high daytime temperatures, with conditions remaining dry and uncomfortable. The ongoing heatwave has increased concerns regarding dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other heat-related illnesses.

Weather experts have advised people living in heatwave-affected areas to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and ensure adequate hydration.

Sri Ganganagar Emerges as the Hottest City in India

Even with pre-monsoon activity reported across parts of the state, temperatures continued to rise in many western districts on Monday.

Sri Ganganagar recorded a maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius, making it not only the hottest city in Rajasthan but also the hottest location in the country for the day.

Other districts that experienced extreme heat included:

  • Jaisalmer

  • Bikaner

  • Barmer

  • Churu

In these areas, temperatures remained between 44°C and 46°C, reflecting the continued intensity of the summer season.

Jaipur and Other Cities Cross 40°C Mark

The state's capital, Jaipur, also experienced hot weather conditions despite occasional cloud cover.

The city recorded a maximum temperature of 40.1 degrees Celsius on Monday.

Several other major cities reported similar readings:

  • Kota

  • Udaipur

  • Sikar

Temperatures in these locations hovered around the 40-degree mark, indicating that summer conditions remain strong across much of the state.

Rain Brings Relief in Alwar

While western districts continued to struggle with extreme temperatures, residents of Alwar received much-needed relief after a spell of rainfall and strong winds during the evening.

The showers helped reduce temperatures and provided a welcome break from the persistent heat that has affected many parts of Rajasthan in recent weeks.

Similar weather activity is expected to benefit additional districts if pre-monsoon conditions strengthen further.

Temperatures May Rise Further in Jodhpur and Bikaner Divisions

According to meteorological forecasts, weather conditions in the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions are expected to remain largely dry over the next two to three days.

Forecasters predict that maximum temperatures in these regions could rise by an additional 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, potentially intensifying heatwave conditions.

Residents have been advised to take precautions against extreme heat and follow local weather advisories.

Fresh Weather System Likely From June 11

The weather department has indicated that a new western disturbance is expected to become active from June 11.

The system could trigger another round of:

  • Thunderstorms

  • Rainfall

  • Cloudy conditions

  • Gusty winds

across several parts of Rajasthan.

As the influence of this weather system increases, pre-monsoon activity is likely to expand, bringing changing weather conditions to more districts across the state.

Mixed Weather Conditions Expected to Continue

Rajasthan's weather is expected to remain highly contrasting over the coming days, with some districts experiencing rain and cooler temperatures while others continue to face severe heat.

The arrival of a fresh western disturbance later this week may provide broader relief to several regions. However, until then, western Rajasthan is likely to remain vulnerable to intense heatwave conditions.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated with official weather advisories, especially in districts where thunderstorms, heavy winds, or extreme temperatures are forecast.
