Sawai Madhopur : The Election Commission is conducting a Special Intensive Voter Re-Inspection (SIR) campaign in the state. Several shocking cases are emerging in connection with this campaign. The latest case comes from Gangapur City, where gross negligence has been revealed. During this campaign, a 72-year-old retired medical officer was declared dead on the voter list. The victim exposed this matter in a media statement. After this incident came to light, many serious questions are being raised about the Election Commission's process.
A living person was declared dead in the voter list
This shocking incident occurred with poet Gopinath (72), son of Mahesh Chandra Sharma, a resident of Ward No. 33 in Gangapur City. He was declared dead on the voter list. Speaking to the media, Gopinath said that the SIR process was underway in Gangapur City, but no form had reached him by November 16th. He contacted his BLO, Chhotu Khan, and was shocked to find that he had been declared dead on the voter list. Speaking to the media, he said, "I am standing alive in front of you, yet I have been negligently declared a voter." He called this an insult to him and a gross negligence on the part of the electoral process.
Now they are not being heard.
Speaking to the media, Gopinath stated that he filed a complaint with the District Election and Registration Officer regarding this matter. He has made several rounds, but his name has not yet been added to the voter list. He stated that he has an EPIC number and, according to the 2002 voter list, his name is listed at serial number 532 in Part 109. He has voted in all recent elections. Therefore, it is wrong to remove his name from the voter list.
Dotasara also raised questions on this
It's worth noting that many questions are being raised in the state regarding the SIR process. Recently, Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara also raised serious questions about this process. He alleged that BLOs were arbitrarily deleting voter names without even visiting people's homes. This example from Gangapur City has once again exposed the gross negligence of the SIR.
