Punjab News: A farmer from Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, has won a prize of ₹1 crore using a ₹7 lottery ticket. The man has been buying lottery tickets from this stall for the past 10 years.

Punjab News: A farmer in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, has won a prize of ₹1 crore using a ₹7 lottery ticket. Farmer Balkar Singh purchased a Sikkim State Lottery ticket from the Bittu Lottery stall in Sirhind on December 24th. The lottery result was announced that day, but information about this significant prize remained undisclosed for several days.

Balkar Singh has been buying lottery tickets from this stall for the past 10 years. He has previously won small prizes, including once winning 90,000 rupees. Balkar, a resident of Majri Sodhian village, supports his family through farming.

The prize of Rs 1 crore was received for the first time

Lottery stall owner Mukesh Kumar Bittu said he has been in the lottery business for 45 years. His stall has previously drawn prizes of up to 10 lakh rupees, but this is the first time he has won a prize of 1 crore rupees.

The farmer won the lottery on December 24

The owner stated that he won the lottery on December 24th, and the results were announced the same day. However, during the martyrdom ceremony in Fatehgarh Sahib, he was busy serving langar for three consecutive days, due to which his business was closed and he was unable to receive the information. Mukesh Kumar Bittu stated that upon receiving the information, he immediately informed Balkar Singh that his ticket had won a prize of 1 crore rupees.

Will help the needy with lottery money

Balkar Singh attributed his victory to the blessings of Guru Sahib. He said he would use the money to further his farming activities. He also promised to spend approximately 10 percent of his prize money to help those in need.

There are 3 draws a day.

It's important to note that the Sikkim State Lottery is held daily. According to lottery dealer Mukesh Kumar, three draws are held daily. The first draw is held at 1 p.m., the second at 6 p.m., and the third at 8 p.m. A single ticket costs ₹7. Many people also purchase the entire lottery book, which costs approximately ₹140.
