A puzzling case has emerged from rural Uttar Pradesh, where a newly married woman disappeared just a week after her wedding, triggering confusion, fear, and speculation across her village. The situation took an even more serious turn when a separate complaint revealed that a minor boy from the same area has also been missing since the same time, prompting police to investigate a possible connection between the two cases.
The incident occurred in a village under the jurisdiction of Ajitmal Kotwali area of Auraiya. Police officials confirmed that multiple missing reports have been filed, and a detailed investigation is currently underway.
Marriage, Celebration, and a Sudden Disappearance
According to police records, the woman was married on February 10, 2026, in what was described as a traditional ceremony attended by family members and villagers. Her husband stated in his complaint that the couple spent several days together following the wedding and even marked Valentine’s Day on February 14.
However, events took an unexpected turn on February 17. The husband claimed that his wife traveled to her parents’ home that day, but later that night, she allegedly left the house without informing anyone.
Family members later reported that several valuables were missing, including silver anklets weighing approximately 250 grams, a mangalsutra, gold jewelry such as chains, rings, nose ornaments, toe rings, and a waist belt, along with around ₹20,000 in cash. These items were reportedly part of the wedding gifts.
Conflicting Complaints and Rising Suspicion
Soon after the disappearance, both the husband and the woman’s father filed separate complaints with the police. In his statement, the husband alleged that his wife had previously been in a relationship with a young man from the same village, a fact he claimed was known to her family even before the marriage.
The woman’s father echoed similar concerns, expressing suspicion that a local youth may have persuaded or lured his daughter away. However, neither party provided concrete evidence to support their claims, police sources said.
Minor Boy Also Reported Missing
The case grew more complex when another villager, an elderly woman, approached the police to report her minor grandson missing. According to her complaint, the teenage boy left home on his motorcycle on Tuesday evening and failed to return.
During the initial inquiry, police noted that the boy’s name matched the individual mentioned in the missing woman’s report. Based on this overlap, investigators are now examining whether the two disappearances are linked.
Authorities have not confirmed the boy’s age publicly but stated that he is legally a minor, which has added urgency to the investigation.
Police Investigation Underway
The officer in charge of Ajitmal Kotwali police station confirmed that all complaints have been officially registered and are being treated as a priority. Police teams are actively searching for both missing individuals and questioning people in nearby villages.
“We are investigating all angles carefully,” the officer said. “Search efforts are ongoing, and appropriate legal action will be taken once the facts are established.”
Police have also urged residents to avoid spreading rumors, as unverified claims could complicate the investigation and cause unnecessary panic.
Village in Shock
The unusual sequence of events has left the entire village stunned. Residents say it is rare for a newly married woman to disappear so soon after her wedding, especially under circumstances involving another missing individual.
While speculation continues locally, authorities have emphasized that no conclusions should be drawn until both individuals are located and their statements recorded.
