Names of three cities in Rajasthan have been changed, including Mount Abu

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has changed the names of three cities, including Mount Abu. He announced that Mount Abu will be renamed 'Abu Raj', and the names of Jahazpur and Cama will also be changed. He also announced an increase in government recruitment from 100,000 to 1.25 lakh.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced in the Rajasthan Assembly on Friday that the state's famous hill station, Mount Abu, will be renamed 'Abu Raj'. Responding to a debate on the Finance and Appropriation Bill, 2026, CM Bhajan Lal also announced that Jahazpur will be renamed Yajnapur and Cama will be renamed Kamvan. He told the MLAs, "We are committed not only to development but also to preserving our heritage. Keeping in mind the sentiments of the people, I announce that Mount Abu will be renamed Abu Raj, Jahazpur will be renamed Yajnapur and Cama will be renamed Kamvan."

After debate on the Finance and Appropriations Bill, 2026, it was passed by voice vote in the House. The Chief Minister also announced an increase in government recruitment for the coming year. The Chief Minister stated that the state government had previously released a calendar of recruitment examinations for 100,000 posts in 2026. This will now be increased to 125,000. The Chief Minister said that the results of our welfare policies and economic reforms are clearly visible today.

'The state now has more resources'

The CM said the state's economy is growing rapidly. In 2026-27, Rajasthan's GSDP is projected to be approximately ₹21,52,100 crore, representing a growth of 41 percent compared to 2023-24. This is a double-engine government. We achieve the targets we set. If the policies are right, the intentions are clear, and the direction is firm, the state can progress rapidly.

Referring to the increase in the size of the budget, the CM said that this is proof that the state now has more resources, which will help in making more schemes for farmers, providing opportunities to the youth, making more provisions for women empowerment and ensuring more allocation for the poor.

He said that our government has a clear intention: a strong economy for development. He added that unless revenue income increases, we cannot achieve major goals such as roads, schools, hospitals, irrigation projects, and employment for youth. Therefore, we have made concerted and planned efforts to increase revenue.
