Life Certificate: Pensioners Alerted to Fraud While Submitting Digital Life Certificates

For pensioners, the month of November is crucial as every year they are required to submit their Digital Life Certificate (DLC), also known as a Jeevan Pramaan, to continue receiving pensions. This year, the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has launched the DLC Campaign 4.0 from 1st to 30th November 2025, making it easier for pensioners to submit their certificates online.
However, the rise in cyber fraud is a major concern. Scammers are reportedly using fake calls or websites to steal Aadhaar, OTPs, or bank details from pensioners. To protect them, the government has issued important guidelines.
Guidelines for Pensioners
Use only registered websites or apps:
-
Official website: https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in
-
Post Office app or Aadhaar Face RD Application
Do not share your information with unknown agents or unauthorized apps.
Keep Aadhaar and bank details secure:
-
Never share Aadhaar number, OTP, bank account number, PPO number, or mobile number.
-
Government agencies never ask for passwords, OTPs, or bank PINs via phone, email, or messages.
Ensure device and internet security:
-
Keep your mobile or computer updated with antivirus software.
-
Submit the life certificate using secure Wi-Fi or mobile network only.
-
If you suspect any fraud, report immediately to your bank or at https://cybercrime.gov.in.
What is a Life Certificate?
A life certificate is proof that a pensioner is alive, which allows them to continue receiving pensions. Earlier, this required visiting a bank or office, but now it can be done online via the Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan).
How to Submit
Offline: Visit a bank branch or a Common Service Center (CSC).
Online: Use the website, Post Office app, or doorstep banking.
Things to Keep Ready
Before generating the DLC, pensioners should have:
-
Aadhaar number and registered mobile number
-
Aadhaar linked to the bank or post office
-
Type of pension, PPO number, pension account number, and disbursing agency details
-
If DLC was previously generated, most information will auto-fill
This ensures a safe and smooth submission process while preventing scams targeting pensioners.
