The veteran actor in South films is surrounded by new controversies these days. The future of actor Haasan's new film Thug Life, which is embroiled in the Kannada and Tamil language controversy, has been put into question. Due to the controversy, the screening of his film has been stopped in Karnataka for the time being. This matter has also reached the High Court. Despite this, Kamal Haasan has refused to apologize in this matter. He said that an apology is sought for a mistake, not for a misunderstanding. The Karnataka High Court sharply criticized Kamal Haasan for this attitude and said that this behavior shows the ego of the actor. People have reacted on social media to this comment of the High Court judge.

Actor and filmmaker Kamal Haasan's film is going to be released globally on June 5, but it will not be released in Karnataka. The reason for this is the actor's refusal to apologize for his controversial statement 'Kannada is a language derived from Tamil'. There is protest in the state over this statement and despite the Karnataka High Court verbally advising him to apologize, Haasan is firm on his stand. Senior advocate Dhyan Chinnappa, appearing on behalf of the film's producer Rajkamal Films International (RKFI), told the High Court that Kamal Haasan's statement was not malicious, so there is no need for an apology. He said that the actor had already sent his explanation to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), in which he clarified that his intention was not to hurt the Kannada language or its dignity.
The High Court judge got angry.
However, when Justice M Nagaprasanna asked that if there was no apology, then what was the harm in at least adding a line of apology in the letter written to KFCC? On this, Chinnappa said that an apology is necessary where there is malice, whereas there is nothing like that here. The court made a sharp comment on this and asked, 'Are you (Kamal) a language expert or a historian?' The court said that the actor's attitude reflects his ego. However, the lawyer said that this is not arrogance, but clarity. RKFI had sought police protection from the court for the release of the film, but the court said, 'After the situation you have created, now you want police protection in business interest, while you have not apologized. You have invested ₹ 300 crores, but if you do not apologize, then why do you want to release the film in Karnataka?'

Reactions on social media on the court's comment
Social media users are also reacting to the comment made by the Karnataka High Court on Kamal Haasan. Similarly, an ex-user wrote, 'Listen to the Karnataka High Court... this is the treatment given to Kamal Haasan's arrogance. This is pure gold.' A video statement by Kamal Haasan was also played in the court, in which he said that 'Kannada is a language originated from Tamil.' However, the court was not satisfied with this argument and also clarified that there is no mention of apology anywhere in Kamal's letter.
