Police have made a significant breakthrough in the murder of a 25-year-old MBA student in the Dwarkapuri area of Indore. During a scene recreation on Monday, the accused, identified as Piyush, narrated the sequence of events leading to the crime, while police recovered crucial evidence from the room where the murder took place.
A police team led by station in-charge Manish Mishra took the accused to a rented room in Uncle Wali Gali, where the crime was committed. During the process, investigators recovered a rope, adhesive tape, and a knife, all of which have been sent for forensic examination.
Murder Was Pre-Planned, Says Police
During interrogation, Piyush reportedly confessed that the murder was premeditated. He told police that he had called the victim to his room and checked her mobile phone, where he allegedly saw her chatting with other men. An argument followed, after which he pretended to plan a “surprise” for her.
According to police, the accused convinced the woman to allow her eyes, hands, and feet to be tied. Once she agreed, he strangled her to death.
Shocking Revelations During Investigation
Investigators said the accused made disturbing disclosures during questioning. He allegedly admitted to committing sexual acts on the body and claimed to have consumed a high dose of performance-enhancing drugs prior to the crime. After the murder, he locked the room, went out to drink alcohol, and later returned to stab the body multiple times.
Police further revealed that after fleeing Indore, the accused travelled to Mumbai, where he searched online for videos related to communicating with spirits and attempted occult practices.
Confession Letter Recovered
After his arrest in Mumbai, police recovered a handwritten letter from the accused in which he confessed to killing his girlfriend. In the letter, he claimed their relationship was opposed by college peers and family members and stated that he deserved punishment. Police said the emotional tone of the letter stands in stark contrast to the extreme brutality of the crime.
Body Found After Foul Smell Alert
The victim’s decomposed body was found naked on February 10, after residents complained of a foul smell coming from a locked room in Dwarkapuri. Based on technical surveillance and digital evidence, police tracked down and arrested the accused while he was absconding.
Investigation Ongoing
Police confirmed that all recovered items are undergoing forensic analysis and that the accused’s confession is being corroborated with physical and technical evidence. Officials stated that while the accused has expressed remorse, the nature of the crime indicates severe criminal behaviour. Further investigation is underway.
