India has announced a major boost for tourism from Thailand. Thai citizens can now apply for a 30-day e-tourist visa to visit India without paying a visa fee. The visa will also allow travelers to enter India twice during its validity period.

The new facility was announced by the Indian Embassy in Thailand on September 11 and is aimed at making travel to India more convenient and affordable for Thai tourists.

The fee-free arrangement will remain available until December 31, 2027, or until further notice, according to the announcement.

What does the free visa offer?

Under the new arrangement, eligible Thai citizens traveling to India for tourism can apply for an e-tourist visa without paying a visa fee.

The visa:

• Is valid for 30 days

• Allows two entries into India

• Is available without a visa fee

• Is intended for tourism-related travel

• Will remain in effect until December 31, 2027, or until further notice

The two-entry facility gives Thai travelers greater flexibility when planning their Indian holidays.

The announcement comes as Thailand is also making it easier for Indian travelers to visit the country.

Under Thailand's visa-exemption arrangement, eligible Indian passport holders can travel to Thailand without obtaining a tourist visa in advance and stay for up to 30 days.

The move is aimed at encouraging tourism and strengthening travel links between India and Thailand.

Indian tourists planning a trip to Thailand should keep several requirements in mind.

Travelers should have:

• A passport valid for at least six months

• A confirmed return or onward ticket

• Proof of hotel accommodation

• A clear travel itinerary

• The required travel documents for immigration

Travelers must also complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 72 hours before arrival.

The Indian Embassy has also advised travelers to carry at least 20,000 Thai Baht in cash per person, along with their supporting travel documents, as immigration authorities may ask to see them.
