In Dhar Bhojshala, Vasant Panchami worship and namaz will be held together; Supreme Court decision, appeal for restraint from both sides

The Supreme Court stated that Vasant Panchami prayers will be held on the campus from sunrise to sunset, and prayers will be offered between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. The court also stated that separate routes will be designated for the two communities within the campus. The court appealed to both parties to maintain peace and restraint and cooperate with the police and administration.

SC verdict on Bhojshala : In an important decision on Thursday, the Supreme Court allowed both Vasant Panchami puja and namaz at the Bhojshala complex in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. The apex court said that the Vasant Panchami puja will be held from sunrise to sunset in the complex and namaz will be offered between 1 pm and 3 pm. The court said that there will be separate routes for the entry and exit of both the communities in the complex. The court has appealed to both the parties to maintain peace and restraint and cooperate with the police and administration. Also, the order of ASI has been continued.

SC upheld the ASI decision

However, the court did not comment on the merits of the case in its order. It should be noted that the ASI's order of April 7, 2003, allowed prayers for the Hindu side on Tuesdays, Basant Panchami, and on Fridays.

Namaz will be offered from 1 pm to 3 pm

The court ordered that the havan kund be placed on one side of the Bhojshala complex, while the Muslim side should offer their prayers on the other side. The prayer time will be from 1 pm to 3 pm, while the Basant Panchami puja will be held from sunrise to sunset. The court also urged both parties to maintain mutual harmony and tolerance and cooperate with the administration and police.

'On three occasions, prayers and worship have been performed together'

Earlier during the hearing, Vishnu Jain, the Hindu lawyer, told the court that the ASI's order was the source of the dispute. Salman Khurshid, the Muslim lawyer, argued that on three previous occasions, namaz and puja had been performed simultaneously. Vishnu Jain stated that the Hindu community would perform puja from sunrise to sunset, to which the judge replied that he knew it wouldn't take that long. The Madhya Pradesh government, however, stated that it was prepared for any eventuality.

HC directed to hear the case within 2 weeks

The Supreme Court has directed a division bench of the High Court to hear the original dispute regarding the Bhojshala complex within two weeks. The court stated, "We urge the High Court to open the sealed ASI report in open court. The High Court should also provide a copy of the ASI report to both parties. After this, both parties can raise their objections to the report within two weeks. The Supreme Court has disposed of the petition on its own. The High Court will now hear the case. Until then, the status quo will remain."
