Former Woman Councillor’s Insta Reel Outside Police Station Goes Viral, Hardoi Police Take Swift Action

A case highlighting the misuse of social media has surfaced from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, where the police were compelled to act after a controversial Instagram reel by a former woman councillor went viral. The incident took place in Kheda Bibijai Mohalla under the jurisdiction of Shahabad Kotwali.

The former councillor, identified as Kiran, allegedly recorded multiple video clips in front of the police station, openly challenging the police. One of these reels quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing sharp criticism from users.

What was seen in the viral reel

In the 40-second viral video, Kiran is seen sitting on the bonnet of a black Scorpio vehicle for nearly 30 seconds while filming herself to a Bhojpuri song. In another segment of the reel, she is shown walking through a forest area with a rifle slung over her shoulder. She also recorded a dance reel to a Bhojpuri song right in front of the Shahabad police station gate, an act many perceived as a direct challenge to law enforcement.

Social media outrage and police response

As soon as the reel gained traction, social media users began questioning police authority and criticised the former councillor’s actions as irresponsible and provocative. Many accused her of openly mocking law and order.

Taking note of the seriousness of the situation, Shahabad police immediately initiated action. Following the police response, Kiran uploaded another video on social media in which she publicly apologised for her actions. Despite the apology, public debate and criticism continued online.

Police issue strict warning

Shahabad Police Inspector Jitendra Pratap Singh stated that performing such acts at the gate of a police station sends a negative message to society and undermines public trust in law enforcement. He confirmed that the woman admitted her mistake and issued an apology.

The police have issued her a strict warning and made it clear that such behaviour will not be tolerated in the future. Authorities also reiterated that anyone attempting to disrupt law and order or misuse social media to challenge the police will face strict legal action.
