In a political twist ahead of the upcoming elections, Congress Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Pratap Singh Bajwa, has filed a complaint that led to the registration of an FIR against two senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ministers and the party’s Punjab social media team.

The Chandigarh Police have registered a case against AAP Punjab state president and cabinet minister Aman Arora, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema, and others under sections 336(4), 356, and 61/2 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). The complaint alleges that a doctored video of Bajwa was circulated on social media platforms by AAP leaders to malign his image.

Bajwa Accuses AAP of Spreading Misinformation

Speaking to the media, Bajwa said,
"This group of fake revolutionaries has spent the last three years spreading lies and manipulating content. I had filed a formal complaint, and now the police have taken cognizance and registered an FIR."

He further claimed this was part of a broader pattern by AAP to mislead the public and harass political opponents through digital misinformation.

‘Evidence Against Bhagwant Mann and Kejriwal Too’

Bajwa didn't stop with Arora and Cheema. He added that his team has gathered evidence against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal as well, claiming:
"Just as the FIR has been filed against Aman Arora and Harpal Cheema, I am confident legal action will also follow against Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal soon."

AAP Responds: “We Welcome the FIR”

In response to the allegations, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema addressed the media and downplayed the complaint, saying:
"We welcome this FIR. The people of Punjab can clearly see how the Congress leadership changes its stance frequently. This is just another political stunt backed by the BJP and Congress nexus to defame the Aam Aadmi Party."

Political Temperature Rises in Punjab

This development comes amid heightened political tension in Punjab, with both AAP and Congress sharpening their attacks on each other. As the investigation proceeds, it remains to be seen whether further action will indeed be taken against more top AAP figures as Bajwa suggests.
