The number of cancer patients in India is steadily increasing. According to a report by the National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research, approximately 1.4 million to 1.6 million new cancer cases are diagnosed in the country each year. Among these, blood cancer, lung cancer, and oral cancer are the most common. Furthermore, cases of stomach-related cancers are also on the rise. The main reasons behind this are considered to be poor diet, excessive consumption of fast food, unhealthy lifestyle, and lack of exercise.
Importantly, the body gives off several signals before cancer develops, or in its early stages. However, many people ignore these symptoms because they seem normal. Therefore, by the time the disease is detected, it may have already reached a serious stage.
Don't ignore symptoms that seem normal.
The early symptoms of cancer often seem simple. Some people may have gas problems, some may have an infection, or a cold and cough, so they put off treatment. But if these symptoms persist for a long time, they could be the beginning of cancer. Therefore, don't take frequent changes in your body lightly. Let's see what these habits are.
Changes in bowel or urinary habits:
If you have long-term constipation, frequent diarrhea, or frequent urination, it's not just a dietary issue. Sometimes, these symptoms could be caused by intestinal or kidney cancer.
Wounds that don't heal quickly:
If a skin sore, mouth ulcer, or other wound doesn't heal after several days, don't ignore it. In some cases, it could be an early sign of skin or mouth cancer.
Abnormal bleeding from the body,
such as coughing up blood, blood in the stool, or bleeding that's unusual for women, can be serious. If you notice any of these problems, it's important to get a doctor's examination without delay.
If you notice a new lump or swelling in your body,
such as a breast, testicle, neck, or any other part of your body, consult a doctor immediately. Early cancerous lumps are often painless. Therefore, it may be wrong to assume that just because it's painless doesn't mean it's not dangerous.
