A spine-chilling murder case has come to light from South Delhi, where a 50-year-old man was brutally shot dead in what police suspect to be a revenge killing linked to a long-running family dispute. The sheer brutality of the crime has shocked not just residents but even doctors, who recovered 69 bullets from the victim’s body during the post-mortem examination.

The incident took place in Aya Nagar area of South Delhi on the morning of November 30, though the horrifying details surfaced days later. The victim has been identified as Ratan Lohiya. According to preliminary investigations, Ratan had an ongoing and violent dispute with members of his extended family, which had escalated multiple times in the past.

Gunned Down Outside His Home

On the morning of the incident, Ratan Lohiya stepped out of his house for work when he was suddenly surrounded by armed assailants. Before he could react or seek help, the attackers allegedly opened indiscriminate fire at close range. The sound of continuous gunfire echoed through the area, leaving residents terrified inside their homes.

Police sources revealed that nearly 72 rounds were fired during the attack, turning Ratan’s body into a mass of bullet wounds. After ensuring he was dead, the assailants fled the scene, leaving his body lying outside the house. Due to fear, locals initially did not come out. After some time, family members stepped out and raised an alarm upon seeing Ratan lying motionless in a pool of blood.

69 Bullets Recovered From the Body

Following information from locals, Delhi Police reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Several empty cartridges were recovered from the crime scene, along with three live rounds. Ratan’s body was sent for post-mortem examination, where doctors made a shocking revelation—69 bullets were extracted from his body.

CCTV footage from nearby areas has also surfaced, showing three suspects arriving in a red car near the victim’s residence around the time of the murder. The footage is being examined to identify the attackers and trace their escape route.

Revenge Killing Allegation

Ratan Lohiya’s family has directly accused Rambir Lohiya and his relatives of orchestrating the murder. According to them, the killing was an act of revenge for the death of Rambir’s son, Arun Lohiya, who was murdered earlier in a similar fashion.

Family members claim that Arun Lohiya was shot dead when he was returning home in his car, and Ratan Lohiya’s eldest son was later named as an accused in that case. Ratan’s daughter has alleged that Rambir Lohiya had openly threatened to kill her father to avenge his son’s death.

Contract Killing Angle Under Probe

Delhi Police are now probing the case from multiple angles, including that of a contract killing. Sources indicate that investigators have received inputs suggesting the involvement of foreign-based gangsters who may have been hired to execute the murder.

Teams from Delhi Police, Crime Branch, and Special Cell have been deployed to track down the shooters and other accused, all of whom are currently absconding. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations, and technical surveillance is being used to trace their movements.
