Almost every household uses a gas stove. However, due to constant cooking, oil, spices, and burnt dirt accumulate in the small holes of the burners. This dirt prevents the flame from burning even when the gas is on high. Sometimes the flame turns yellow, or the holes become clogged in some places, and the burner only burns on one side. People often assume that new gas or servicing is needed, but the real problem is a dirty burner. However, you can clean a gas burner at home in just a few minutes with some simple home remedies. So, let's learn about these tips in today's article.
Why do burner holes get clogged?
While cooking, water from milk, tea, or vegetables can overflow onto the burner. Furthermore, a layer of oil and spices can gradually build up in the vents, preventing proper gas venting. This can sometimes cause the gas flame to dim.
Follow these steps to clean the gas burner
Use hot water and lemon.
First, remove the burner from the stove. Fill a bowl with hot water and add lemon juice. Soak the burner in this water for 15 to 20 minutes. This will loosen any dirt and grime. Furthermore, cleaning the burner doesn't take much time.
Baking soda will make cleaning easier.
Mix baking soda and water to form a thick paste. Apply it to the burner and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, scrub gently with an old toothbrush. This will remove grease and stains easily.
Remove dirt from clogged pores with a needle or pin.
If the burner pores are clogged, use a thin needle or safety pin. Gently clean each hole. Be careful not to apply too much force, as this could distort the shape of the hole.
Vinegar is also effective.
White vinegar is considered very effective at removing dirt from pores. Soaking the burner in vinegar for a while loosens any adhesive, making it easier to clean.
Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
It's important to dry the burner thoroughly before putting it back on the gas. Any remaining moisture will prevent the gas from burning properly.
Cleaning your gas burner once or twice a month will keep the flame bright and blue. This will help you cook faster and save gas.
