Another NEET Student Found Dead in Patna PG Hostel; Family Alleges Murder, Names Hostel Staff and Two Men

A fresh case of a NEET aspirant’s death has surfaced in Patna, raising serious questions about student safety in private hostels. The body of a young woman preparing for medical entrance examinations was found under suspicious circumstances at the Perfect Girls PG Hostel, prompting allegations of murder from her family.

The deceased has been identified as Anamika Gupta, also known as Lakshmi Kumari, a resident of Aurangabad district. She had been living at the Perfect Girls PG Hostel while attending NEET coaching classes. On January 6, her body was discovered in her room, allegedly hanging from a ceiling fan.

However, the case took a dramatic turn when the family alleged that Anamika’s body had been taken down from the fan and placed on the bed before police and relatives arrived. Citing this, the family has rejected the possibility of suicide and has accused several individuals of murder and conspiracy.

In a formal complaint submitted to the police, the family accused the hostel management—including the director, warden, and hostel in-charge—along with two young men, Mushahid Reza and Mukarram Reza. The family claimed that Anamika was being harassed and alleged that they possess photos and videos showing her with the two men. According to the complaint, these same individuals allegedly removed her body from the ceiling fan.

The incident has now taken a political turn. Pappu Yadav, Member of Parliament from Purnia, visited the hostel to assess the situation. He accused the hostel administration and local authorities of negligence and assured the family that he would raise the issue in Parliament during the upcoming session. He also stated that he may approach the High Court seeking justice for the victim.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Officials are reviewing CCTV footage from the hostel premises and questioning the warden, hostel staff, and other students. The police said further action would depend on the post-mortem report and forensic findings, which are still awaited.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family has demanded strict legal action against all those named in the complaint, stating that they will continue to pursue the matter until justice is served.
