Senior BJP leader Arjun Singh said that the attackers first overtook Chandranath's car, stopped it, and then began firing indiscriminately.

Serious injuries: Chandranath sustained multiple bullet injuries in his head, chest and abdomen, resulting in his death on the spot.

"Mamata wants Suvendu killed."
BJP leader Arjun Singh called the incident a major political conspiracy. Directly targeting the Chief Minister, he said:
