The Rajasthan government has taken a significant initiative to move education in government schools beyond textbooks and make it practical and contemporary. Following Uttar Pradesh, students in Rajasthan's government schools will now also have the opportunity to read newspapers.

During the prayer meeting, one Hindi and one English newspaper will be read, so that children can connect with the events of the country and the world and their language and understanding level improves.

Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government implemented a newspaper reading program for students in government schools. The goal was to strengthen children's language, vocabulary, and contemporary understanding. Now, Rajasthan has adopted this model and decided to implement it in its education system.

According to the state government's order, newspapers will be made available in the libraries of all government schools. Higher secondary schools will be required to have at least two newspapers, one in Hindi and one in English.

Meanwhile, two Hindi newspapers will be kept in upper primary schools. The aim is to ensure that students at all levels develop the habit of reading newspapers regularly.

Education Secretary Krishna Kunal clarified that five new words will be selected daily from newspapers read during prayer meetings and their meanings will be explained to students. This will continuously expand children's vocabulary, enabling them to better understand and use the language. This practice will simultaneously develop children's reading, listening, and thinking abilities.

Newspaper will give children an understanding of social, political and economic issues

The Education Department believes that regular reading of newspapers will give children an understanding of social, political, and economic issues. This will develop their analytical abilities and help them become responsible citizens. This government move is being considered an important effort to make education more vibrant, practical, and useful.
