After being eliminated from the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh's new sports minister has now issued a statement on improving relations with India

Following the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, the BCCI ordered KKR to drop Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from its IPL 2026 squad. KKR complied with the board's order.

T20 World Cup 2026:  A new government has been formed in Bangladesh. After taking the oath of office as Prime Minister, Tariq Rahman has intensified efforts to improve relations with India, which have deteriorated over the past year. Bangladesh's new Sports Minister, Aminul Haque, has stated that he wants to improve relations with India. After being sworn in as Sports Minister, Aminul Haque stated that he wants to improve relations with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and India and resolve all issues quickly.

He said, "After taking the oath, I met the Deputy High Commissioner of India at the Parliament House. I spoke to him about the T20 World Cup. It was a good conversation. I told him that we want to resolve this issue quickly through dialogue. We want to maintain friendly relations with all neighboring countries." Aminul Haque said, "We want good relations with India in sports as well as other areas. Due to political problems, we could not play the T20 World Cup. If there had been discussions, those issues would have been resolved and our team would have been part of the World Cup."

Following the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, the BCCI ordered KKR to drop Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from its IPL 2026 squad. KKR complied with the board's order. Following this, the Bangladesh Cricket Board refused to send its team to India for the 2026 World Cup and requested the ICC to relocate its matches to Sri Lanka.

The ICC refused Bangladesh's demand, after which the Bangladesh Cricket Board, on the advice of its government, decided to withdraw from the T20 World Cup 2026. Scotland was given the ICC's place in the World Cup instead of Bangladesh.
