Chanakya Niti Shlok (Chanakya Niti Shlok)
विप्रयोर्विप्रवह्न्योश्च दम्पत्योः स्वामिभृत्ययोः।
अन्तरेण न गन्तव्यं हलस्य वृषभस्य च॥
Meaning of the verse
In this verse it is said that one should never pass between two Brahmins, between a Brahmin and fire, between husband and wife, between master and servant and between a plough and a bull.
In front of which people should one never speak?

- Between husband and wife – Speaking or interrupting while they are talking can escalate the dispute.
- Between Gurus or scholars – Speaking without being asked during a discussion between two knowledgeable persons is considered disrespectful.
- Between boss and employee – Interfering in official conversations may create problems for you.
- It is against social etiquette to interrupt a private conversation between two people without permission.
Why is this lesson given?
Chanakya believed that every situation has its limits. Speaking at the wrong time can not only be disrespectful but also cause danger or controversy. Therefore, it is wise to react according to the situation.
