Aadhaar verification will be easier with QR codes and a new app, UIDAI announces; photocopies are no longer required.

The government will soon implement a new rule that will prohibit hotels, event organizers, and other establishments from keeping photocopies of customers' Aadhaar cards. According to the current Aadhaar Act, keeping someone's Aadhaar card photocopy without reason is illegal.

UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar told PTI that such institutions will now have to register for offline verification. They will then receive new technology that will allow them to identify individuals through QR code scans or the new Aadhaar app. " The purpose of this new rule is to eliminate paper-based verification, " he said.QR code and new app will make verification easier

The new process will allow institutions to integrate Aadhaar verification into their systems through an API ( Application Programming Interface). UIDAI is currently beta testing a new app. This app will allow verification without the need to connect to the central Aadhaar database each time. It can be used at places like airports, shops, and hotels. Kumar said, " This will make offline verification easier, reduce the need for paper, and ensure the security of users' Aadhaar data . "

Digital data will make work easier

The new app will allow users to update their address and add family members who don't have a mobile phone. The app is designed to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act and is expected to be fully implemented within the next 18 months. This new technology will ensure both privacy and security in Aadhaar- based services.
