Aadhaar Card Rule: Want to change the date of birth on your Aadhaar card? Learn this UIDAI rule
If your date of birth is incorrectly entered on your Aadhaar card and needs to be corrected, the change won't be as simple as the standard update process. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has clarified some important rules regarding date of birth changes. These include further scrutiny of second or subsequent date of birth change requests.
According to UIDAI regulations issued on December 24, 2025, multiple requests for date of birth changes can only be accepted under special circumstances. Therefore, it will not be possible to change a date of birth simply by presenting a second identity card.
Birth Certificate is Required A
birth certificate is considered a necessary proof for correcting the date of birth in the Aadhaar card. If the date of birth has been previously entered using a mark sheet, passport or other valid document, a stronger proof like a birth certificate may be asked for while changing it again. If a birth certificate has been submitted earlier and is being corrected later, a revised certificate with the same birth registration number will be required. In some cases, an affidavit or additional documents may also be asked for.

If a citizen provided valid documents during Aadhaar registration, but the operator entered an incorrect date of birth, the matter can be investigated through a different method. If the records provided confirm the error, a correction process can be implemented as per the regulations. However, if it is found that deliberately incorrect information or a fake document was provided, the matter can become serious. Aadhaar may be deactivated during the investigation and valid, online-verified proof may be required. In serious cases, legal action may also be taken.
The age range can also be checked
if it is found that the person's age does not fit into the relevant category when creating an Aadhaar after changing the date of birth. In such cases, the request is likely to be rejected or the Aadhaar deactivated.
