8th Pay Commission: Will ₹14.10 lakh be deposited into the accounts of central government employees? Understand it in detail

Central government employees and pensioners are eagerly awaiting the Eighth Pay Commission report. Due to the delay in the Commission's report, its implementation is likely to be delayed for some time. However, this delay could benefit employees in the form of arrears. According to current estimates, employees from Level 4 to Level 7 are likely to receive arrears of lakhs of rupees based on the fitment factor.

What exactly do you get in arrears?

When calculating arrears, it is important to take salary differences into account. This estimate assumes that there are no arrears on dearness allowance (DA), house rent allowance (HRA), and transport allowance (TPTA) for previous periods. DA changes twice a year based on inflation. HRA is fixed based on basic salary, while TPTA is a fixed allowance and changes based on increases in DA. Therefore, these allowances are not included in the arrears calculation.

Arrears as per 2.15 fitment factor
If we consider 2.15 fitment factor, then the arrears for Level 4 can be around Rs 5.87 lakh, for Level 5 Rs 6.69 lakh, for Level 6 Rs 8.14 lakh and for Level 7 Rs 10.33 lakh.

If the fitment factor is 2.57? With the 2.57 fitment factor in place, Level 4 employees could receive arrears of approximately ₹8.01 lakh, Level 5 employees ₹9.14 lakh, Level 6 employees ₹11.12 lakh, and Level 7 employees ₹14.10 lakh. However, these figures are only estimates. The actual amount of arrears will only be clear after the government issues an official notification of the Eighth Pay Commission's new pay scales.
