According to the company, Mahindra sold 59,257 units in the domestic passenger vehicle segment in August 2026, compared with 39,399 units during August 2025. This represents an increase of nearly 50% year-on-year, highlighting the growing demand for Mahindra's SUVs.
Mahindra Records Strong Growth in FY 2026-27
The company's growth has not been limited to a single month. Mahindra also posted impressive numbers during the first five months of the current financial year.
Between April and August 2026, the company sold 294,050 units, compared with 241,337 units during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
That translates into a 22% year-on-year increase in sales during the April-August period.
Scorpio-N and BE 6 Sporteq Get Strong Customer Response
Mahindra's sales figures include both its conventional petrol and diesel vehicles as well as electric models.
The company says its overall SUV portfolio continues to attract customers, with particular interest in the updated Scorpio-N and BE 6 Sporteq.
Velusamy R, President of Mahindra's Automotive Business, said customer interest remains strong across the company's SUV lineup. The updated models are also receiving a positive response from buyers.
The strong performance suggests that Mahindra's strategy of offering SUVs across different price points and powertrain options continues to resonate with customers.
Total Vehicle Sales Also Rise 42%
Mahindra's growth was not restricted to passenger vehicles. The company reported total vehicle sales of 107,648 units in August 2026, marking a 42% increase compared with the previous year.
This indicates that demand remained healthy across several parts of the company's automotive business.
Festive Season Could Bring Another Boost
Mahindra is also optimistic about the months ahead. The company expects an improved monsoon and the upcoming festive season to support demand for vehicles.
The festive period traditionally brings increased interest in vehicle purchases in India, and manufacturers often introduce offers and new models to attract buyers.
With SUV demand already showing strong momentum, Mahindra will be hoping that the festive season gives its sales another significant push.
For now, the August numbers provide a strong indication that Mahindra's SUV portfolio is continuing to gain momentum in the Indian market, with both traditional and electric models contributing to the company's growth.
