6,000 PNG users gave up LPG connections

Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, shared a post on social media platform X on Sunday, March 29th, writing, "As of yesterday (March 28th), 6000 PNG consumers surrendered their LPG connections! A big thank you to them."

Appealing to PNG users to give up their LPG connections, Neeraj Mittal wrote, "Join this strong and courageous group of do-gooders who have come forward to give up their LPG to help those who do not have access to it. Give up your connection today."

Due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, supplies to households and transport have been prioritized in the country's gas sector. PNG and CNG are receiving their full supply, while industrial and commercial customers are receiving approximately 80 percent of their average consumption.

PNG connections given to lakhs of people

A government statement said fertilizer plants are being supplied at 70-75 percent capacity and additional LNG cargoes are being arranged.

According to PTI report, the government has assured that it has taken steps to secure the supply of fuel and gas.

The ministry further stated that more than 290,000 new PNG connections were added in March. The expansion of city gas distribution networks is being accelerated by simplifying approval processes and encouraging the transition from LPG to PNG.
