Yuzvendra Chahal: "I Was Pretending to Be Happy With Dhanashree" — Cricketer Breaks Silence After Divorce

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has finally spoken out about his divorce from Dhanashree Verma, revealing painful truths that were hidden behind their seemingly perfect social media presence. Despite appearing happy together, Chahal confessed in Raj Shamani’s podcast that he had been "pretending to be happy" for a long time.

“Everything didn’t happen suddenly”

Chahal shared that the relationship had been deteriorating for quite some time.

“We had decided to keep our issues private until a final decision was made,” he said.
The couple, who got married in December 2020, officially separated after nearly four years of marriage. During that time, they continued to post happy pictures online—only to conceal the reality.

Struggling in silence

Chahal revealed that the emotional toll was immense:

“I was in deep depression for four to five months, crying for hours. I could barely sleep for 2–3 hours a night.”
He even took a break from cricket during this time, indicating how severely the relationship had affected his mental health.

Why did things fall apart?

Explaining the reasons behind their separation, Chahal said:

“Sometimes our thoughts didn’t match. If one person speaks loudly, the other must remain calm. If both argue, it leads to conflict.”
He admitted he was torn between professional commitments and personal life, struggling to strike a balance.

On RJ Mahvash rumors

During the same podcast, Chahal also addressed speculation about his connection with RJ Mahvash, saying:

“Just because I was seen with someone doesn’t mean you can write anything. People troll for no reason.”
He clarified that only those close to him know the truth and that he doesn’t owe the world any explanation.
